Kwanyee Chan
Kwanyee Chan is a London-based Hong Kong-born pianist. After her undergraduate studies in her native city during which she was laureate of the CCA Artistic Excellence Award, she earned her masters degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (GSMD) in London where she studied with Lucy Parham. She has also played in masterclasses by artists such as Ralf Gothóni, Robert McDonald, Nelson Delle-Vigne Fabbri, Michel Beroff and Eugen Indjic.
She has been broadcast on RTHK Radio 4 and has performed internationally at venues such as the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Barbican Centre’s Milton Court in London, Radziejowice Palace in Poland and Palazzo Steri in Italy.
More recently, she performed at the 2023 Gijon International Piano Festival in Spain, as well as the 2024 Palermo Classica Winter Festival including Chopin’s 2nd Piano Concerto, which she has also recently played with members of BBC Concert Orchestra.
Kwanyee is a prizewinner of various international competitions, including 1st prize in the 2016 Hong Kong Youth Music Competition, 2nd prize at the 2016 Liszt Memorial Prize International Piano Competition and 3rd place in the 2021 Coulsdon and Purley Festival Piano Concerto Competition. Kwanyee is on the artist roster of Talent Unlimited and is a collaborative artist of the young artists’ collective Soundzpace Hong Kong. Her participation in the International Certificate for Piano Artist (ICPA) programme has been supported by The Lazar German and France Clidat Funds for the years 2022-2024.
Kwanyee is a keen teacher, and was one of the first teachers to join Terra Musica Academy since its very beginnings.
